Designer Woods has been serving Omaha and surrounding areas since 1981.

Originally founded in 1981, Designer Woods was family-owned-and-operated for more than four decades. Concentrating primarily on the custom commercial cabinetry and casework space, Designer Woods developed a standard and reputation for excellence and customer service.

Under the direction of a new ownership group beginning in 2025, Designer Woods has made a significant investment in capacity to fuel growth, both in the commercial space and by significantly expanding its capabilities into residential casework and cabinetry and custom finishing.

Eric Zongker

Senior VP • General Manager

With 18 years in the cabinetry and woodworking industry, Eric began his career as a shop foreman in his family’s business, developing deep hands-on experience in production and craftsmanship. He later served as Director at a high-end residential cabinet company, overseeing operations and streamlining manufacturing processes. Today at Designer Woods, Eric leads the company’s growth and strategic initiatives, focusing on operational excellence, quality control, and delivering high-end cabinetry solutions that exceed client expectations.

John Matousek

VP • Project Management

With more than 30 years of experience in the residential and commercial building and cabinetry industry, John brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to Designer Woods. He began his career in residential home building, gaining 12 years of hands-on experience before joining Designer Woods. Beginning in 2010, he has played a key role in the company’s success through his expertise in estimating, project management, and operational leadership.

As Vice President of Operations, John oversees day-to-day operations and ensures that every project meets the highest standards of craftsmanship, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. His deep understanding of the industry and commitment to excellence has helped drive Designer Woods’ reputation as a trusted partner in custom cabinetry.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time outdoors, especially on the golf course or fishing with family and friends.
